Donations Disclosure

Each municipal election cycle, Horizon Ottawa calls on all candidates to release their list of donors who contributed more than $100 before Advanced Polls. Regardless of this practice, the Municipal Election Act of Ontario requires that, following Election Day, all candidates disclose the names and addresses of every donor who contributed more than $100 as a matter of public record. 

Releasing this public data ahead of Advanced Polling is an important transparency measure which our campaign has agreed to undertake. Doing so enables residents to be fully informed—prior to placing their vote—about the major donors supporting each campaign. It also highlights which candidates accept developer donations, and which do not.


No Shawn Menard campaign has ever accepted a campaign donation from a developer. It’s an important show of much-needed independence at City Hall, and this disclosure is an important part of upholding that transparency—and encouraging others to do the same.
